More on the Bible

Remember, that both testaments open with historical books and close with prophetic books? The historical books of the New Tesatment or the four gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, and the book of Acts.  The only prophetic book in the NT is Revelation, which is also the last book of the entire canon.  The hisorical books of the Old Testament are the Pentutach (Gen, Ex,Lev,Num and Duet.)  then Joshua, Judges,Ruth,1 and 2 Samuel,1 and 2 Kings, 1 and 2 Chronicles, Ezra,Nehemiah, and Esther. And the Old testament closes out with prohetic books, that are divided into the four major books of prophecy which are Isaiah,Jeremiah,Lamentations,Ezkiel and Daniel, are the major prophets,  The minor prophets are Hosea,Joel,Obadiah,Jonah,Micah,Nahum,Habakkuk,Zephaniah,Haggai,Zecharia, and the last book of the OT is Malachi.  The difference between the major and minor prophets is the length of the prophecies. The major prophets are much longer than the minor, which are shorter. That distiction has nothing do with the importance of the prophecies. There are four major prophets but five books of the major prophecies because Jeremiah also wrote Lamentations.

The Bible

What is the Bible? The Bible is the inspired word of God. It was written by over 40 different authors over a period of time in excess of 1500 years. In spite of the amount of authors and the lengthy time period, there is a consistency that could have only come from one mind, and that would be the mind of God. The Bible is divided into two main sections, the Old testament and the New Testament. Both testaments open with historical books and close with prophetic books. The first five books of the Old Testament are called the Torah or the Pentutach(Torah means law and pentutach means five books)  and the first four books of the New Testament are called the Gospels. There are 66 books in the commonly accepted Protestant Canon.  More about the Bible to come!

Much ado about gun control in the media lately. The second amendment is not about the right to hunt, or target shoot.   The second amemdment is meant to protect the citizens from an oppressive and tyrannical government.   It is this God given right that the founders of the great nation affirmed in the constitution in the Bill of Rights.  If the government wants to disarm its citizens then that government has an evil plan, and knows that the people, will not stand for that plan. Over the last  several decades our rights have been slowly and almost without notice, been taken away. Now the federal US govt wants to put in place more unenforcable gun laws. Folks, criminals do not pay attention to the laws of the land. That is why they are criminals. They will ignoe these new laws too. That will leave the law abiding citizens with no protection. The average response time for the police is 28 minutes, the police invetigate crimes, they cannot prevent them.   Even Jesus advised His followers to buy a sword.

Luke 22:36

Then He said to them, “But now, whoever has a money-bag should take it, and also a traveling bag. And whoever doesn’t have a sword should sell his robe and buy one.
Luke 22:38

“Lord,” they said, “look, here are two swords

What Time Is It?

For years, we went without daylight savigs time in Indiana. Now, every six months we move our clocks back and then up again. There is an old Indian ( that is Native American) saying, ” Only the white man would cut six inches off one end of a peice of cloth and sew back on the other end and be convinced that he has made the cloth longer”  I wake up and wonder what time it is!  it btakes me about four months to adjust to the time change, first it is still dark when it should be dawn, then the sun is still shining bright in the sky when it should be dusk.  But then it changes back and the reverse is true! No wonder, we all have sleep disorders!  What college is it that teaches there is more than 24 hours in a day anyway?  I think this is a political ploy so the politcians and the bankers can play golf at  ten o’ clock at night. That is when they come up with these ridiculous plans that get passed into law and it only costs the consumers money. I think it is time for a change, a change back to the old ways, when it was easier and made sense.

WOW!!  Christnmas and New Years are past and we go back to the same old grind. Or do we? Each new year, each new month, each new week, each new day, brings changes.  We get older and sometimes a bit wiser with the goals that we set.  I do not make resolutions for new years, they are broken and forgotten in less than a week.  But I do set goals, and I usually do obtain them, but not always, those are not failures but learning experiences, and life goes on and again, become a bit wiser.  Wisdom can be found in the pages of the Bible.  Set a goal this year, to read through the entire Bible!  It only takes about 15 minutes a day of reading to do this. There are many excellent reading programs out there that can help one obtain this goal. You will be blessed by God and become even wiser than you are now!
